Kirk Matenear

For over twelve years, Kirk has been a respected advisor for long term care and related financial services in the Charleston area. Professionally he is “Certified in Long-Term Care” (CLTC). As a CLTC, Kirk is uniquely qualified to create a plan that preserves the emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing of a client’s family should care be necessary.

He understands that Long-term care planning and financing is a very complex aspect of retirement planning and that it is about much more than just insurance. Therefore looking at “the big picture” is something that Kirk takes very seriously. As such he constantly interacts with other professionals such as attorneys, financial advisors, and accountants. By working so closely with other advisors, Kirk is able to focus on establishing a plan that takes into consideration individual circumstances and abilities to pay. Long-term care insurance is a complex product. It offers many forms of protection and pricing structures. Kirk is knowledgeable in traditional planning but is also extremely committed to keeping his finger on the pulse of the newest and most innovative approaches to the planning process.

Kirk is originally from the Chicago area and is an avid Chicago Cubs fan. As such, he’s commonly heard saying “next year is going to be our year.” He’s a graduate of Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida where he played baseball and majored in Environmental Science with minors in literature and philosophy. He is active in his community and does volunteer work for various organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association and Camp Happy Days which is a charity that benefits local children with cancer. Kirk happily lives on Johns Island with his wife Beth who was his college sweetheart. Together they have a beautiful daughter and 4 wonderful dogs.
